Sunday School

Children from age 3 through high school gather (in groups divided by age level) in the Chapel library or in classrooms for Sunday School during our 10:00 a.m. service.  Our curriculum is updated every couple of years for the sake of variety.  In the recent past we have used the All Things New curriculum which exposed the children to 75 basic stories from the Bible over a two-year period.  We have also used the God & Country curriculum put out by the Boy Scouts of America, which the parents loved because they said this curriculum enabled their children to make connections between their Sunday School lessons and everyday life.  For summer 2008 we have given our older children each a chance to lead one or two classes on a topic of interest to them (charitable giving, stewardship of the environment, biblical norms of economic justice, leadership, etc.  For each class the child/teachers will relate the topic to at least one Bible story or passage.  This is an opportunity for the older children to take a more active part in their Sunday School experience.  As the old saying goes, the best way to learn something is to teach it!

Sunday School children join the rest of us in the chapel towards the end of the service in order to participate in the communion.

Sunday School meets most Sundays.  The first Sunday of the month the children are in the Chapel for the entire service where they participate as acolytes, readers, and greeters.
